Tonight, Roy and I had the opportunity to take my sister, Marianne, and MJo (aka Melissa Jo, cutest 5 year old around!) to the movies. We decided on "Dreamer", an absolutely delightful movie starring Dakota Fanning, Kris Kristofferson and Kurt Russell, along with some other standouts. My parents had highly recommended the movie! With our popcorn and drinks in hand, we settled down to enjoy the movie. The first thing that grabbed at my heart was the beautiful music. Combine that with the amazing countryside in Kentucky and that was almost enough. Though some had told me the movie was "good, but predictable", I had high hopes that it would be so much more. I just think that every once in a while, it is good to have a "feel good movie". And this was it. Yes, you almost knew from the beginning how it would end, but what was in the middle made the biggest impact. Without giving away the movie, let's just say it reminds you of what's important, how events of the past can destroy the good in the present, and that there is something to be said for a family who fights to come back together. The thrill of watching one of God's most beautiful creatures perform on the track, as well as in the stable, the humor of who was really eating the popsicles, the reminder that you will sometimes find something other than coffee in the coffee can - all of these combined with a great cast made this a movie I will most certainly buy when it comes out on DVD! As we left, there were 4 young teenage girls behind us. They spoke of how their friends would think they were so stupid for crying all the way through the movie. How refreshing! Everyone...no matter how young or old, will love this movie. Predictable or not, it will leave you feeling good. And in this day and time, it's sometimes hard to find that!
May God's blessings be yours...
