Happy Birthday Emily!

As my children get older, the birthdays get harder. That sounds ridiculous, I am sure. I am so proud of my children and so happy that they have grown into adults who love the Lord and serve Him with all their being. I guess the difficulty I have is that the years remove us more and more from the time when they were little, and I loved that time!!
Emily was a surprise package! I had a miscarriage the December before I got pregnant with her in February and didn't even know if I could carry another child. But we were blessed and she was born on November 19, 1982, just 6 weeks after we had moved back to Texas from Iowa.

Emily was a born princess. Not the snobby one...the sweet one.Her favorite thing to wear were dresses, preferably ones that twirled! She is the middle child and I do believe in the "middle child" stuff! She had a sister who people stopped to watch sing and act, and a baby brother who came along before she was even 2.
But, she adjusted. She is the source of many happy and fun memories that we relive often by just getting out the old video tapes. Her storytelling about the most "beautifullest princess" was a favorite...guess what the princess's name was?
She recently moved out after being home for about a year working on her Masters. She has a cute efficiency in the Cultural District in Ft. Worth and loves her job as a Social Worker. But, I miss her. I admit...I was ill-prepared for the move!
She has overcome difficult situations in her life by just being Emily! When she had to move to a new high school as a Sophomore, a decision based alot on her sister's illness, she never complained. As a Senior at Fort Worth Christian, she was Homecoming Queen and Miss Ft. Worth Christian! That's the kind of girl she is...wherever she is, she is loved. She has brought so much joy to everyone who knows her! She loves tenderly and fiercely and is her baby brother's and big sister's biggest cheerleader.

From a pretty little princess to a beautiful young woman, she has grown with grace. Her love for the Lord is her priority and I am just so proud of her!

Happy birthday Em...you are still the princess!

I will admit, you make beautiful babies. But, how could you miss? The most beautiful thing though is the spirit that you instilled in them. Of course, I know more of Tine but I have heard of the others and know they follow. I wish we could have all lived closer and shared in each other's lives. But, I am so glad that I do now.
