Some days are just better than others...

The past few weeks have been pretty tough. Not just with Christine and all she is going through, but a lot of "stuff" happening that just makes me remember that we are constantly under attack by Satan. I am a patient person...haven't always been, but patience is a gift God has granted me in the past few years in a really visible way. I know we have been asking alot of God lately...and through it all, we have learned in a whole new way what it means to wait. Yesterday, Roy came home and told me he was being laid off, again. Now, here is a man who is 62 years old, with serious heart problems and declining health, and he has to go out and find a job. I'm sorry, but that just stinks! And as I sat up on the couch at 2 AM this morning, asking God to help me understand all that is going on, I realized that He is. He's also watching for that patience thing He has been trying to grow in me for many years. I don't know what things "mean" that are going on, but I do know that God is in control and He is going to show me and my precious family something wonderful through all this.

But tonight...I've been blessed. Jack and I are having a slumber party. It' s already ended for Jack, and I am praying for some restful sleep, too. Roy & Brad are at the farm for the long weekend and the annual "All Boys Campout...No Girls Allowed", begun when Brad was just 4 (he's now almost 23). Jack and I will go up on Monday for the day with my sister and Melissa Jo & Mary Kate. I have read through all my favorite blogs and have answered emails and now, I think I'll go fix a cup of hot tea and finish this evening with some quiet time. Jack brings me such peace. Just being around him, though he is SO energetic, reminds me of what is really important. He is going to be such a great big brother...he has the most amazing capacity to love and be loved. What a blessing he is!
These are a couple of photos from last year's Memorial Day at the farm...Jack has changed so much! But, I know he will be so excited to eat the fresh roasted corn on the floor in the cabin he loves so much!

And I can hardly wait to get another photo of "the cousins" riding the gator to the lake for some good fishing! What fun!

I am praying tonight that you will be blessed with a wonderful "long weekend" and that you will be blessed beyond measure by our God who loves us so much!
