Team Brock and Brody...

In just a little over a week, I will amaze even myself as I participate in a 5-mile walk in Houston for the March of Dimes MARCH FOR BABIES. This team was organized by Matt's cousin, Ashley, and her husband, who lost sweet Brock and Brody just a few months before Jack was born. It's been four years now, but not a day goes by that they do not come to mind to this sweet family.

I don't remember dealing with premature births before Ashley's babies were born. I had known people who had babies early, but nothing quite so life-shattering as when she lost her boys. Then Jack was born early. We stood by for months as they tried to keep him from being born too soon. Thankfully, though early, he was healthy. Then, Sam's saga began. And while that was going on, sweet Jaymie had her babies too early - Jayde went to heaven and Kanyon began his long battle with life...one that he is winning! Then Sam was born and had to be in the NICU - a very scary place, but also a place where miracles happen every day. I remember all the March of Dimes posters and pamphlets and I thought back to a time in high school when a bunch of my friends and I walked through Forest Park for the March of Dimes. I remember thinking "I should do that again...for sweet Sam". As my awareness has grown of so many others who have lost babies in our church and in our circle of friends, I have longed to do something to honor these precious souls.

And then Ashley began to post. Finally after four long years and a sweet, precious little girl, she is ready to walk. And we will walk with her. We will walk for those who are with Jesus...Brock and Brody and Jayde...and for those who are with us now...Jack and Sam and Kanyon. We will walk for all the healthy babies...Avery, Reese, Riley, Brooks, Macy, Reid and Jaxon. We will walk for those yet to be born. We will walk to raise money for an organization that works tirelessly to bring education and hope to families waiting for babies.

Say a special prayer for Ashley, BA and Avery...their courage has been an inspiration to each of us to make the walk and I could not be prouder to walk with them.
